(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Lea Michele, star of the hit Fox show "Glee," shed her straight-laced image -- and almost everything else -- in a new photo spread for GQ magazine shot by photographer Terry Richardson, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Bronx-born Michele, 24, said she was inspired to get into acting and music by Barbra Streisand's character in "Funny Girl" in the November issue of the magazine.

"She's like, 'I can't sing about how beautiful I am because I'm not beautiful,'" she said.

Michele says she was never one of the pretty girls as a teen and was ostracized for not getting a nose job, "I was one of the only girls in my high school that didn't get one... And if anybody needed it, I probably did. But my mom always told me, 'Barbra Streisand didn't get a nose job. You're not getting a nose job.' And I didn't."

She added, "I'm proud to be on a positive show and to be a voice for girls and say, 'You don't need to look like everybody else. Love who you are.'"

Co-stars Cory Monteith and Dianna Agron also appear in the racy photo shoot, with Agron admitting she's "never been shot in so little clothing."

The Fox network is owned by News Corp., which also owns the New York Post and NewsCore.
