Was Joking

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles police say the doctor who was with Michael Jackson in his final moments has "provided information which will aid the investigation." But a report in the New York Post details the family's reaction to his collapse, including his son Prince who initially thought his father was joking around.

"The horror of it all is that Prince thought his dad was just being his dad and clowning, but it was real, and he watched as they worked on him," Stacy Brown told The New York Post , a Jackson family biographer who has spoken extensively to the Jackson's relatives since he died Thursday. "Prince was stunned -- in a trance -- just watching," Brown said. "There was no movement, just looking around and not really processing what was really happening."

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Dr. Conrad Murray says he has "helped identify the circumstances around the death of the pop icon and clarified some inconsistencies." She says he's not a suspect and "remains a witness to this tragedy."

The pop icon's cause of death remains a mystery. Murray reportedly performed CPR on Jackson until paramedics arrived. He was declared dead later at UCLA Medical Center.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson says Michael Jackson's family is "hurt because they lost a son." But, he says "the wound is now being kept open by the mystery and unanswered questions of the cause of death."

A top White House adviser says President Barack Obama has written Jackson's family. David Axelrod says Obama expressed condolences to the Jacksons. The White House has said Obama saw the pop star as a spectacular performer whose life had sad and tragic aspects.

Los Angeles County medical examiners completed their autopsy Friday and said Jackson had taken prescription medication. Jesse Jackson says the family wants a second, private autopsy.

Jackson's sudden death , which some reports state was due to his dependence on painkillers, specifically demerol , has also brought to light another issue about the King of Pop -- his finances.

His massive debt and financial situation leaves the plight of his three children in question. He was the father of Prince Michael, 12; Paris, 11; and Prince Michael Jackson II (known as Blanket), 7. There are reports that a battle for the custody of the children began brewing just hours after Jackson died.
