in the World'

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Following the success of Australia's "best job in the world," Taiwan is now inviting people to enter a contest for the "best trip in the world."

The intention behind Taiwan's "best trip" is the same as Australia's -- both countries want to boost tourism. But Taiwan's contest will be run a bit differently.

Reuters reports that experienced travelers are invited to submit creative, money-saving itineraries for a trip to Taiwan. By July 10, the tourism bureau will select 50 teams of two or more travelers who will each get $860 to spend over four days. The travelers will then document their experiences via blog and video by the end of August. On Nov. 15, writers of the best online blog will receive $30,700.

The tourism bureau says entrants will be judged on creativity and inexpensiveness of the trip, feasibility of the itinerary, the quality of audio-visual uploads, the frequency of being linked to/quoted by other Web sites, and the popularity with blog readers.

The contest Web site touts Taiwan as "a treasure trove of stunning natural scenery and exciting local culture that offers immense possibilities for the do-it-yourself traveler."

Earlier this month, Australia's Queensland state named British citizen Ben Southall as its winner of the " best job in the world " -- acting as a caretaker of an island in the Great Barrier Reef and keeping an online journal. The campaign received nearly 34,700 video entries from almost 200 countries.
