Shirley Chan is a general assignment reporter for FOX25 News. She joined FOX25 in 2006. Before arriving at WFXT, Shirley was an anchor/reporter for WWLP-TV22, the NBC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts. Prior to that, she worked at the "TODAY Show" in New York City for seven years.
Shirley's current assignments range from being first on with breaking news to putting together compelling features. While keeping New Englanders informed on what’s happening in New England, she especially enjoys the people she meets in the community and telling their stories. She finds it most rewarding to work on issue-oriented stories that help affect change.
As a former producer with the "Today Show," Shirley has traveled extensively to cover stories. She’s been on the frontlines of breaking news in small towns across America, traveled around the world for "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" segments, and field produced for two different Olympic Games.
While working in Springfield as a reporter, Shirley focused on consumer and investigative reporting and earned an AP Award during her time there.
Shirley was born and raised in New York City. She attended the prestigious Stuyvesant High School and graduated with honors from New York University.
