Tyisha Fernandes

FOX 25 News Boston

Tyisha Fernandes joined FOX25 News in November 2010 as a general assignment reporter. She came to FOX25 from the FOX affiliate in Ft. Myers, Fla. where she was the weekend anchor/reporter.

As a reporter in South Florida, Tyisha exposed the highly inefficient and costly school transportation system in Lee County. The story led to a state audit and overhaul of the bus system saving taxpayers nearly two-hundred thousand dollars and shortening the bus ride for school children. Tyisha received an Edward R. Murrow Award for continuing coverage and positive changes resulting from three months of in-depth news coverage on the bus story.

Tyisha is a 2002 graduate of Howard University. She landed her first television job at KWES –TV in Midland, Texas. Tyisha did her own shooting, editing and reporting before becoming the weekend anchor at NewsWest 9 in 2005.

Tyisha grew up in Brockton, MA and attended schools there. Her childhood curiosity and tendency to always ask her parents “why” made reporting a natural career choice. Her TV idol growing up was Liz Walker who anchored evening newscasts in Boston for more than 25 years. Tyisha is thrilled to return home to Boston as a reporter for FOX25 News.
